Richard D. McOmber and Adrienne Haroutunian met and married in 1964 while they were students at law school. They were both selected to serve as Editors of the Rutgers Law Review and graduated from law school in 1965. Richard graduated with Honors.

After law school, Richard and Adrienne served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAGC) for three years during the Vietnam Conflict. They were the first married couple to serve together in the JAGC. They each attained the rank of Captain. Richard served as the Staff Judge Advocate of Fort Lesley J. McNair in Washington, D.C.

Adrienne was assigned to the Post Judge Advocate’s office at Fort Myer, Virginia and to the Office of the Judge Advocate General at the Pentagon.

Richard and Adrienne were each awarded an Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service.

After their military service, Richard and Adrienne chose to live in Monmouth County which is midway between their hometowns of Toms River and Clifton. Richard joined a law firm in Middletown as an associate and became a partner of the firm.

In 1971, Adrienne opened a law office in Fair Haven and established a matrimonial law practice. She was one of a small number of women attorneys in Monmouth County practicing at that time.

In 1974, Richard decided to leave the Middletown law firm. Adrienne and he joined forces and established a partnership named “McOmber & McOmber” and opened an office in Red Bank.

In 1977, they incorporated the law firm, and it became known as “McOmber & McOmber, P.C.” Richard and Adrienne developed a flourishing practice representing large national corporations, banks, many local businesses, boards of education, charitable organizations as well as representing individuals in matrimonial matters and other areas of law.

In 1980 Richard and Adrienne built the “McOmber Professional Building” for the firm in Red Bank where the main office of the firm is now located.

Adrienne was active in the Monmouth Bar Association and served in many capacities for decades. She was the Chair of the Monmouth Bar Association Family Law Committee and under her leadership, the Committee expanded and was proactive. In 1990, she became the first woman to serve as the President of the Monmouth Bar Association. She was sworn in as President by Justice Daniel O’Hern who was an Associate Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court.

Richard and Adrienne’s two sons, R. Armen McOmber and Christian V. McOmber, followed in their footsteps and became attorneys and partners of the firm. Armen joined the firm as an associate in 1998 and became a partner in 2001. Christian became an associate in 2010 and a partner in 2013.

Matthew A. Luber, who joined the firm as a partner in 2015, started the Marlton office.

In 2020, Richard and Adrienne became “Of Counsel” and turned over control of the firm to Armen and Christian who became the managing partners. Under their sons’ leadership, the firm has grown significantly and has enlarged and diversified its areas of practice.

In February 2020, Matthew A. Luber was named a managing partner and the firm was renamed “McOmber McOmber & Luber, P.C.”

In February 2020, due to rapid growth, the Marlton office relocated to 39 E Main Street.

In November 2021, to better serve our North Jersey clients, we opened a new office in Newark, NJ.

In June 2023, we expanded our services and opened a new office in Philadelphia, PA, and New York City.

In September 2023, our Marlton office relocated to better serve our South Jersey clients.
