Matthew A. Luber, attorney at McOmber McOmber & Luber, P.C., is representing the victim of a sexual harassment case against a Jersey Shore bar owner. The lawsuit, which was filed in New Jersey Superior Court, accuses the business owners of a Margate, New Jersey bar of sexual discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation. The 33-year-old victim, who is from the Atlantic City, New Jersey area, was hired as a waitress at the Tipsy Taco & Tequila Bar in February 2017. From the beginning, the job, which was a way to supplement her income as a per diem nurse, was rife with problems.
According to the complaint, employees at the bar were subjected to a workplace rampant with misogyny and sexual misconduct. The lawsuit claims the bar’s owner forced female employees to participate in physical acts with customers despite protestations. Also, it is alleged that the male staffers followed the owner’s behavior by inappropriately touching and grabbing the female employees without consent. The lawsuit further states that the business owner threatened his employee that he would burn her house down after his wife, who is co-owner of the bar, engaged in a heated, accusatory conversation with the mother of the victim.
