Employment Law & Class Actions
Mr. Burrell is an Associate Attorney and Chief Operating Officer at McOmber McOmber & Luber. Mr. Burrell’s legal practice focus in areas of employment law, class actions, and business litigation. Mr. Burrell’s “leave no stone unturned” attitude and astute attention to detail allows him to provide exceptional service for clients. Mr. Burrell is an advocate for workers. He represents employees in discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, and whistleblower claims in state and federal court.
Mr. Burrell is a member of the firm’s tenacious and expanding class action practice group, which prosecutes and represents clients in wage and hour violations, employee misclassification, and consumer fraud and deception. Whether litigating class actions or collective actions in state or federal court, Mr. Burrell is committed to holding the nation’s largest businesses accountable. Mr. Burrell helped prosecute and developed the damage model for a multi-state wage and hour class actions on behalf of Tastykake drivers, which resulted in a $3.15 million settlement to resolve minimum wage and overtime claims. More recently, Mr. Burrell and the class action practice group secured class certification in federal court for servers and bartenders who were paid below the minimum wage.
Operations & Management
In addition to practicing law, Mr. Burrell is the firm’s Chief Operating Officer. In this role, Mr. Burrell oversees the day-to-day operational and support functions of the firm, while also steering the firm’s the long-range strategies and development. Mr. Burrell’s responsibilities include refining processes to ensure efficiencies, implementing infrastructure and system changes – all with the mission of improving client services.
Mr. Burrell’s has had his hand on the pulse of firm’s operations for years. He first joined the firm’s Marlton office in 2017, focusing on business management and marketing through an externship program with Rowan University Rohrer College of Business. After the conclusion of his semester externship, he never left the team.
Education, Training, and Experience
Mr. Burrell earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2021. Through PENN’s cross-disciplinary approach, Mr. Burrell also studied at Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Certificate in Politics. In law school, he focused his study on complex litigation, class actions, and advanced Federal Civil Procedure issues. Moreover, Mr. Burrell was a pro-bono researcher for the New Jersey Partners For Women and Justice, which offers free legal assistance to survivors of domestic violence. Mr. Burrell graduated summa cum laude from Rowan University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Before Rowan, Mr. Burrell attended Rowan College at Burlington County through the NJ STARS program.
Community Engagement
Mr. Burrell currently serves as Council President (Councilman At-Large) of his hometown, Delran, New Jersey. Mr. Burrell serves as one of the youngest-elected officials and Council President in the State of New Jersey, first elected to office at the age of 19. As a two-term Councilman, he used his age and vigor to bring a new perspective and engagement to his community. During his tenure, Mr. Burrell pioneered transparency, modernized government services, and planned large-scale community events.
Mr. Burrell currently serves as the President of the Board of Education on the joint Board of the Burlington County Special Services School District & Burlington County Institute of Technology.
